Frequently asked questions

  • Chemical farming requires an ever increasing capital input to maintain the same yields. With the higher demand and higher price of chemicals needed to sustain yields, there is a fall-off of profitability. This ultimately threatens not only the profits but ultimately the viability of traditional farming methods. The problem created by chemical applications, cannot be resolved by further chemical means.

MegaGro products provide the farmer with a cost-efficient means of increasing soil conditions and yields without increasing chemical input. Over a longer-term, this can transition into the even more rewarding solution of replacing chemicals with organic MegaGro products.

Thus MegaGro offers an affordable, organic, sustainable, profitable and practical method to achieve both short and long-term benefits.

  • Absolutely. Simply look at our trial results to see how MegaGro can increase profits, without any other change existing farming methods.

  • A complete transition from chemical based farming to MegaGro, is a process that can take a few seasons. The greater the degree of historical damage done to the soil through chemical applications, the longer the regeneration process will take to break down and restore elements in the soil. This is done scientifically, by testing and monitoring the soil condition, and systematically building up the soil's specific needs naturally to wean its chemical dependancy. Contact us today and let our experts guide you through the process.

  • MegaGro cannot do damage to any plant with an active root zone. The reason any excess of micro or macro nutrients in the soil will not harm the plant, is because bacteria respond to plant signals and communication, making them only plant beneficial.

  • MegaGro should not be applied in conjunction with any biocides, as these would kill off the organisms within the product. However, two weeks after the application of MegaGro, biocides may again be used, since micro organism reproduction will have reached high enough levels by this time.

Traditional farming chemicals, as well as all other MegaGro products may be used in conjunction with each other.

  • In annual crops where fields lay bare for a number of months, micro organisms die back due to a lack of plant root function. The solution is simply a reapplication of MegaGro to replenish these bacteria levels during the next sowing cycle.

Perennial crops do not experience the same fall-off of micro organism counts, so only smaller top-up doses are recommended annually.

  • Store in a cool dry place (not refrigerated). Product shelf-life is 12 months.

  • We recommend mixing the MegaGro product the same day as it is applied to the soil. However, should unforeseen circumstances arise, 3 to 4 days in tank should not drastically affect the efficacy of the product.

We provide full application instructions with your purchase (this will also be available on the website soon).

  • We would love to hear from you. If you would like an expert to help you transition into the use of MegaGro products or have a more technical question, please send us your details and we will ensure that a team member gets back to you shortly.

Also note that we can make site-specific recommendations for you, based on your soil trial results.

Terra Fortis Uses

Used as an eco-friendly method for controlling nematodes, and promoting healthy crops.

Benefits

An organic approach to nematode control to combat environmental concerns and harmful chemicals:

Mechanism

Nematodes are tiny soil organisms that can severely damage crops, causing economic losses in agriculture. The use of chemical nematicides has raised environmental concerns, prompting interest in eco-friendly alternatives. Terra Fortis provides beneficial bacteria to help control harmful nematodes. Three such bacteria are:

• Bacillus subtilis:

A common soil bacterium that produces various compounds (such as tipopeptides and surfactins), which can kill nematodes and inhibit their growth. It also boosts plants’ natural defenses against nematodes. Research indicates that using B. subtilis effectively lowers nematode populations and enhances crop health.

• Brevibacillus laterosporus:

Produces a compound called laterosporutin, which has been shown to kill pathogenic nematodes in soil. This bacterium may also help strengthen plant defenses against nematodes, contributing to better crop resistance.

• Pseudomonas fluorescens:

Known for its diverse abilities to control pests. It produces proteases and antibiotics that can reduce nematode populations and compete for resources, limiting nematode survival. Additionally, it helps plants resist nematode attacks.
